I’d leave it. Best time to prune conifers is winter or very early spring before the new season growth starts.

Unlike deciduous trees, conifers won’t regrow from dead wood. Less is more with them.

Mostly prune to remove dead/diseased branches or to stop from growing taller/wider or to maintain its shape. Pruning conifers is more aesthetic then function.

Personally, I’d give it another 2 years or so before even considering pruning it and just leave nature to allow it to strengthen up more.

Perhaps pluck those thistles so they don’t infest your lawn instead?
