Unemployed journalist, burner, raver, graphic artist and vandweller.
I read news so you don’t have to (but you still should).
Always remember that any GOP accusation is actually admission of guilt.
This news broke last week.
No one wants to. This is just a suppression lever.
After years in Oregon and Washington, this whole thing of having to go to a polling place was weird. Also, even the secretary of state in Arizona mailed out voters’ guides that we apparently need LWV to put out. Not that I’d trust Paxton with anything but a loaded gun in a locked room, but how we run elections here is pretty anachronistic.
Schell is the only politician I went after off campus. Locke was fucking useless, but Schell loved to fuck up at every chance he got.
And I ran the editorial board at Seattle’s third-largest daily (bearing in mind the P-I was still printing), so I got to do it anonymously.
Know your audience. Just because you think something is a fit for this community does not make it so. And dismissive shit like this is not a fit for Beehaw.
You spammed, got called out for it, and now you’re saying the problem isn’t you, it’s everyone else. That’s the fascist playbook (or, at the very least, your ex’s explanation for why everyone sucks).
.ml has different rules. You don’t get to bring your litterbox here.
Can’t be worse than Paul Schell.
A time element for the election would be nice here to understand the context. I’ve not lived in Seattle for 25 years, so I don’t remember the cycles, and I’m too mentally exhausted to deal with a search engine.
Wait … you’re local? I intended to go today, but my Street Medics chaperone got sick yesterday, which I only learned about when reaching out to finalize plans around 1030.
I’m 45 and have never been to a true protest, let alone covered one (I got pressed into reporting in college from time to time, but those weren’t protests so much as students sitting around for a couple of hours). I was hoping to get eased into it today, but alas. I mean, it’s not as though more of these aren’t coming down the pike, but it sure as fuck gets hotter from here.
Yeah, that’s to be expected after launching a war against another country to hold your government together enough to avoid being subject to prosecution.
Tehran wasn’t going to be like “Yeah, let’s just take this in stride.”
What is with this end-times porn? I don’t like to kinkshame, but, like … making sure to escalate things that will affect tens of millions of people because you don’t want to end up in court – and I don’t say this lightly – is straight-up evil.
Is there truly an audience for “I don’t want any proof, just answer my question”?
As Elon said, let that sink in. Perhaps an unpopular position, but if that’s all users want and it makes them more money, of course that’s what Google will do.
I’m in no way suggesting this is a good direction, but it’s unsurprising.
My take, and I’ve only been covering politics since the '90s, is they realized they crossed the line for public support, so now there are two options: admit overreach (obviously not an outcome here) or double down.
Respectfully, no fucking shit. I wanted to happily just go about designing pages, and then it became clear the point of the enterprise was not to inform our readers.
I honestly don’t know how others engaged in “journalism” were willing to look the other way. “Because they needed to provide for their families” or some shit? You cease to be a journalist when you compromise your ethics. You’re now in marketing or PR.
They didn’t even make the McRib permanent!
This keeps up, and the press is going to be so weakened that we can’t even have seed oils anymore.
When on Earth did that become major?
I mean, that could work as well. A comma in a hed replaces “and” – semicolons are very rare, though.
I’m giving that comma in the hed some serious side-eye. I get Al-Jazeera isn’t an English-native publication, but they usually do better than this. In this context, the comma is saying the two are unrelated. An “as” or “with” fixes the issue.
Are they really “shocking,” though?
How much more can you pack into like eight hours? This was already dense! Sure, I called it 24, but no. It was midafternoon to midnight.
Abusers gonna abuse. I endured seven years of “you don’t do what I say, and I can make your life hell.” I can only imagine what she would have been capable of had I needed her for citizenship reasons.
But, seriously, Crystal Justice? That sounds nothing like a real name.
