Iirc kindle books come with DRM, which you can break using a calibre plugin.
Honestly downloading books from libgen is so much easier I don’t think I’ve bought a kindle book in 10 years.

The pocketbook is the best I know of on the market right now. I have one (bought it a few months back) and it is exactly what was advertised.
So technically, you are correct. The force is the water pressure provided by the piss being pulled down by gravity. Practically speaking, this force is negligible because all you’re doing is allowing the piss to fall, not forcing it downwards.
Basically, imagine you’re holding an incredibly heavy rock that does not have a gravitational field or air resistance. If you drop the rock, gravity will pull it down, but regardless you will not go up unless you apply force and throw it down.
Force = Mass * Acceleration.
Gravity is (approximately) 9.88 m/s^2.
According to a random Wikipedia page, ideal body weight was at one point considered 50kg.
This means that the following will find the point where you are perfectly neutral, neither rising off the ground nor being held down by gravity:
9.88 * 50 = M * A
Unfortunately, A in your scenario is 0, meaning that this is not possible no matter how much piss you have. This is because your urine basically just falls out of your body and isn’t being ejected with force.
checks current social media landscape
Yep, apparently!
Eli5: your PC has different access levels a program can run at. This prevents a malicious or badly coded program from completely fucking your computer. Kernel level anti cheat runs at the lowest level access that exists under windows. It can do basically whatever it wants to your PC, and if a backdoor is coded in (happens way more than you’d think), it gives malware basically total access to your PC.
Reddit has an absolutely massive wealth of community knowledge. If you want to find a community for $thing or gain obscure knowledge on $thing, that’s where you go (assuming there isn’t an old forum post from before Reddit killed forums).
Twitter is where a lot of people still are. If you’re the kind of person to care what a particular person says, that’s where you probably want to be.
Instagram is used by young people who have friends on Instagram.
It isn’t a great system, but it is the system that we have today. This is why legislation compelling Meta/Twitter/whothefuckever to act in an ethical manner is important. Social media is to some extent a natural oligopoly, and unless we get extremely, extremely lucky, the fediverse will always be a niche community.
It may not be the case everywhere, but here condos are kind of a shit deal. They cost as much as a small house, they’re very difficult to sell, and the board can force you to renovate your unit out of your own pocket.
The last one doesn’t sound bad, but a big reason to buy a home is to fix your living expenses for retirement, and being told to tear out your flooring because Shelly upstairs likes muave and all units must now have muave floors can be a real problem.
A couple of ideas:
Home Ownership. I know condos exist, but it seems to me that we need a solution for home ownership that is accessible and ecologically viable. Traditional houses (and even duplex’s/townhomes) are massively inefficient from a climate perspective, not to mention the space requirements and cost.
Child rearing. In college, I learned that children were typically raised by multiple neighbors, in order to lessen the strain on parents. I think it is unrealistic and unhealthy to expect people to nearly kill themselves attempting to raise a child for the first couple of years.
Recreation space. I realize this is mostly an American thing, but lawns are a colossal waste of space. To be of any use at all, they have to be at least half an acre, and realistically, there’s no reason every single family needs their own outdoor recreation space. Plus, a tiny minority of people even use them these days.
Kroger and Safeway have been the absolute face of enshittification since the pandemic. They’ve also been accused of price fixing, and are trying to merge into a monopoly. They also regularly abuse disabled employees (at multiple stores in my area).
I have absolutely no doubt that they will do this the moment they think they can get away with it. In a fair economy, they would have been driven out of business years ago.
Depends on which kind you’re talking about. Cinnamon raisin breads and similar are sweet because they’re basically deserts (desserts?).
Standard sandwich loaf is sweet because your weak foreign palate cannot handle the background level of high fructose corn syrup in all American food. It gives us the strength and vitality to enforce pax Americana, build our secret space colonies, and invent all new world technology.
I’ve actually been looking forward to this, ans this is the first I’ve heard if it actually releasing.
I don’t know what’s up with film marketing these past few years, but I miss almost all of it, despite being interested.
“I don’t really get why people get so up in arms about discussing it, but Sex is fun. Be careful though, those swimmers are persistent little fuckers.”
“Drugs feel good and you think everything is fine until one day you look up and realize it all went wrong years ago. I can’t stop you, but I really hope you’ll choose not to try them.”
I think both worked out well. I’m sex positive and I generally avoid drugs because it just isn’t worth the risk of finding that one substance that totally ruins my life.
While I agree with you in principle, work may not be that easy to come by.
I used to live ~6 miles from the nearest business. If I had to pick between endangering other people and being thrown out on the street, the choice is obvious. I imagine most people will make the same choice when it comes down to it.
Yes. Original hardware is a pain in the ass.
I want to play on my nice PC or steam deck, with save states, whatever gamepad I prefer, and an unlimited library.
Nice bar: whatever menu cocktail or specialty product looks good.
Okay bar: Amaro/mezcal if they have it, gin/rum if they don’t.
Not very good bar: beer or cider
Bad bar: bottle beer. No cans, mixers, or taps, and well pours only if truly desperate.
Honestly, I get it. I totally disagree with their opinions, but living in a state where you know the votes of you and your community are effectively meaningless due to a distant, overwhelming majority sucks.
That being said…this isn’t how states should work. Independent administration for urban and rural areas would amplify the existing division in our country, which has already become a glaring problem in recent years.
Disagree with your underlying assertion that students do not read nonfiction books. Your textbooks are nonfiction.
In terms of more “classic” nonfiction materials, j don’t think it’s a very important skill. Something like Anne Frank’s diary or Night can definitely be powerful, but I don’t think reading a secondary source on the American civil war has any more value for a student than a chapter in a textbook.
I generally read moderately niche fiction titles and they’re all there, but I am monolingual so everything is in English.
