How do you feel about RCV compared to alternatives like STAR?

Some of the opponents reference a 2022 election in Alaska where they claim Palin caused a spoiler for the other republican, even though she got more first choice votes than he did. Ended up with democrat winning. What do you think of that situation? Is it evidence against RCV since Alaska is considered a red state?
