Psychonauts 2 is 90% off. Though it’s not Steamdeck verified it’s Linux native and should run pretty well.

I finished it on the Deck, it was basically perfect aside from achievements not triggering in the second and third games iirc. Modding it was a pain in the hole, had to essentially install the game on a windows machine, mod it and then transfer all of the files over. Not sure if anything has changed in the last year.

Doesn’t that require an external account and running the fucking Origin client on device? I’ve seen that go to ludicrous levels of discounts (currently at freaking 92% discount) but FUCK THAT!

The 512 LCD Deck is a stupidly good deal at 25% off… $330 USD is crazy cheap for a new Deck, and that’s a solid amount of starting storage space before you even move to grab an SD card.

I own both in the household, and while I do enjoy some of the OLED Deck’s improved features, the original is NOT a slouch… I wouldn’t sleep on it! The display is MUCH better than it was at launch thanks to software fixes, and the screen can safely be overclocked from the base 60 Hz up to to 70 Hz with minimal effort, further reducing the gap between the models (OLED is 90 Hz) and allowing clean locking to 35 FPS, a great balance point for smoothness vs battery use.

Since I own both, I can tell you what you’d mainly be missing taking the LCD: basically you’d giving up battery length (OLED is about 25% better on battery life… but the whole issue is mute if you primarily play older games, or mostly play while plugged in), about a half inch of diagonal screen real estate, plus you’re taking a somewhat less precise touch screen, and taking a slightly older Bluetooth adapter in the unit. In exchange for this, you get a new Deck for more than $200 less than the base OLED will cost.

Otherwise, these two are very similar, so it’s a very good time to get a Deck.

The 64 GB version is sold out. The 512 GB is still in stock, at least it’s showing as so for me in the US.

If you’re in the US, I’m not sure you’re looking in the correct place?

Take that link (Steam Deck page on the Steam store), scroll down a little bit. Red banner says “On Sale Through December 4th.” To the right are the 64GB LCD Deck, which is out of stock, and the 512GB LCD Deck, which is still discounted to $336.75 and has a Buy Now button under it. I was, seconds ago, able to add it to my Steam cart and remove it.

I’m not in the US but in Europe, good for you that the deal is still available :)

On that exact same link for me both the 64GB and 512GB are sold out.

Gnorp is a ton of fun. Ive been playing through guild wars to try to get gwamm but man is it a chore. Never did get through stalker, got walled in the section after the first loading screen with that area with the trucks and all the dudes with shotguns coming at you, but this was like over a decade ago that I tried. I mostly remember the flappy gums of one of the guys at the beginning saying "frau geobrau, pipe down m’yan, let me feel you een!’

I liked my lcd one, but the oled is nicer by a bit (i upgraded right away :-/ ). I’m guessing summer 2026 will be the next deck.

As much as i think the LCD one is insane value, especially the cheapest one, i know i’ll be keeping it for a long time, so i just want the better model. The display improvements are hard to ignore, plus you get a battery life boost too, and that on its own is the selling point for me

Running that on PC and I recommend waiting until a few patches have been. Later in the game you run into game breaking issues.

Do mods work on Linux? I haven’t played the older stalker games and I heard there is a big modding scene behind these games, wanting to try it out on my Linux rig

Are we now talking about the original stalker or the new one? I have had the old one working with mods but it needed a lot of love to get it working.

Yeah the original, i heard mods play a big role in keeping the original playable, not sure how accurate that is, but I’m excited to tinker and hopefully get it running

A year ago or so I played the originals on Linux with just a few mods don’t remember which ones. Only 2 or so nessesary ones. I also installed gamma and anomaly but I didn’t play those much, got them working though!

I bought Skyrim, again… The special edition. And I got Tanuki Sunset which I didn’t know had a full release all the way back in 2020. I played the fuck outta it in highschool on the web. Really fun game I recommend checking it out, you can play the classic version for free on itch

SpiritFarer is an amazing deal if you haven’t played it yet. Super recommend it.

I finally bought Kingdom Hearts. The price is steep, let’s see if it pays off.
