Too expensive.
Too expensive.
This. Overseer has been great.

It really depends on what you use your laptop for. My 2013 MBP lasted 9 years and was how I got my work done. That comes out to 76¢ per day, and I make a fair bit more than that per hour.
But if you’re looking for a personal computer to surf the internet, yes, that could be cost prohibitive. But then it also matters less what device you buy.
As for ports, I’ve never needed a dongle on the 2013 model. I did need one for a USB A drive on the newest model, but this little thing has solved that problem easily. I didn’t even have to buy that since my monitor has USB A ports – I was just too lazy to reach around the back to use it every time. I’m not sure I understand all the complaints about the occasional need for a dongle.
I returned to my hometown to handle the passing of my grandfather. I didn’t call my friend, who I had known since preschool, to go hang out. In reality I didn’t give a single thought to contacting anyone I knew – I had family to take care of. He felt insulted by that and chose to never speak to me again.
If this sounds completely illogical, I can assure you I’m just as baffled as you.
I definitely did not get that email. WTH?
Synology devices all have authentication enabled by default.
I was once asked why I don’t participate in anti-war demonstrations. I said that I will never do that, but as soon as you have a pro-peace rally, I’ll be there.
Yes, I know Mother Theresa isn’t well liked, and for good reason, but I like this quote. It shows you how framing your words and actions can impact how they are perceived by others. It makes you think.
The only reason Google is still my default search engine on desktop is …. dates.
I’m a dev and the date next to each search result helps me skip a ton of irrelevant links and get to the ones that most likely apply to my situation. DDG and other search engines usually don’t show any dates.
I’ve sent feedback to DDG on this but obviously that had no impact. If they add dates, I’m done with Google.
On mobile I still use DDG since my searches are generally not date specific.
Keychain fingernail clippers (Amazon)
I’ve had the same pair (different brand than linked) for many years and they have held up great. It’s crazy how often they come in handy, and my SO asks to borrow them all the time too. They are extremely small and nearly weightless. Highly recommended.
Edit: Found the exact brand I have. True Utility. Not sure if it’s worth the slightly higher price since it’s the only ones I’ve ever had – can’t compare. But again, they’ve held up great for many years.
As a non-gamer, I’ll take the pixels every time.
Vivaldi (chromium) fully supports gestures and happens to have the best tab management on the market. Highly recommended.
Left side of my bed collapsed while mid-coitus (cheap MDF bed, not raucous sex). Missionary, so we just rolled softly off the mattress and onto the floor. Paused briefly as we both processed what had just happened, then laughed and continued.
