This is a good list, but y’know a niche ya missed? Pressure sensitive buttons, only really useful for those emulating old games that used them, but still a fun feature to remember.
I like to ask a variety of questions, sometimes silly, serious, and/or strange. Never asking in an attempt to pester or “just asking questions” stuff.
I’m generally curious and/or trying to get a sense of people’s views.

Yeah in hindsight I’m kicking myself for not having gotten one like that, but I had trouble finding wired ones at the time (and didn’t think I’d get tired of the battery maintenance), which surprised me.
The cheap part of PowerA controllers is a little of why I asked, as I’ve not had an opportunity to ask anyone that’s used them.
isn’t space just like, an inverse ocean?
That’s good to know, thanks!
I’ll have to look into bioreactors more. I’m also not sure about that last sentence, but then it sounds like maybe they don’t know what’s up either (or how to communicate it).
Interesting, thanks! I vaguely knew of tree farms, but more for like decorative trees or fruit trees than general purpose ones.
With the OP I was thinking even a monoculture tree farm may be preferable if it reduces destruction of natural, biodiverse forests and allows them to recover where not completely destroyed.
Speaking of brotymology, what’s a gender neutral version of bro/man?
Thanks to you & @[email protected] for your replies. Not sure why but this curiosity was lingering in mind so I thought I’d put the question out there in case there might be some really unique example of such an organism.
I guess it’d have to be a very unique environment to drive such an adaptation, which would be fascinating in itself.
You’ve understood it right! I wasn’t thinking of invertebrates as I was really curious if there might be something strange in-between, but given the other replies here mentioning the same, I think invertebrates may be the closest known of currently.
That’s what I was thinking might be the case for players, alongside the fun/new factors Jordan mentions. Thanks for the reply!
Could be (at least fediverse style), but not sure who/what to follow or how to filter out what I mentioned.
Stuff as in anything, intentionally broad there.
Non-commercial is harder to nail down, but by and large I mean not-for-profit, sort of casual hobbyist activity with zero interest in trying to turn it into a business/side-hustle. People discussing/sharing their original stuff simply for its own sake.
Not fan work, coverage of commercial works, etc. Nothing against that stuff, it’s just easily found and readily available.
Sort of like you see in cartoons, a terrestrial animal that could be “squished” without breaking any bones and goes back to their non-squished state. It’s something I think is more observable in aquatic life, like say octopuses that can squeeze themselves into small spaces.
Older? Check.
Free? Check.
Software/game? Check.
Checks out in my book!
What shareware do you play?
Appreciate the reply and link regardless! It’s always whack-an-ad with these intrusive jerks.
Would you happen to know of any guides or have advice on identifying the adservers to block?
Some talk as if more attention & engagement regarding negative subjects/issues is normal or how people’s brains work, so I’m curious about studies into the other angle on this.
That is, to what degree people may be drawn to and discuss more positive subjects.
Say articles on scientific research progress, effective disease prevention/mitigation, successful restoration projects of environments on the brink or of historical buildings/artifacts, etc.
Subjects like this related to efforts to help, maintain, and/or improve matters.
Emphasis added, yeah this is among the reasons I’m asking. The other reasons I’ve noted, but this underlies a lot of it. I don’t know how long the dual-use ones’ batteries may last if I’m primarily using them wired, so instead of having that in the back of mind, I’d like to get a wired controller for when gaming on devices I’m already close to (which is mostly PC, hence asking for it specifically).
