Unfortunately the bare minimum is in most cases already enough to uniquely fingerprint you.
Not really. The “fingerprint” is not one thing, it’s many, e.g. what fonts are installed, what extensions are used, screen size, results of drawing on a canvas, etc… Most of this stuff is also in some way related to the regular operation of a website, so many of these can’t be blocked.
You could maybe spoof all these things, but some websites may stop behaving correctly.

The games were free for a long time, and a community patch made them work. That was a significantly better deal than having to pony up 40 bucks for an EA patch that’s barely functional.

Well you could make it work, for example some random pattern in chat backgrounds that trace back to whoever is the user. That would still show up in a screenshot.

A substantial part of the optimisation was simply not compiling as a debug target. There were plenty of oversights by Nintendo devs (not to discredit all they’ve accomplished here). And most tooling for this Kaze developed himself (because who else develops for the N64?).
It’s mostly the result of a couple really clever and passionate people actually taking it apart to a very low level. Nintendo could have absolutely done most of these optimisations themselves, they don’t really rely on many newly discovered techniques or anything. Still, they had deadlines of course, which Kaze & Co. don’t.
Eh, even for many console games it’s not optimised that much.
Check out Kaze Emanaur’s (& co) rewrite of the N64s Super Mario 64 engine. He’s now building an entirely new game on top of that engine, and it looks considerably better than SM64 did and runs at twice the FPS on original hardware.

Deepseek seems to have done a clever thing w.r.t. training data, by having the model train on data that was emitted by other LLMs (as far as I’ve heard). That means there is sort of “quality-pass”, filtering out a lot of the definitely bogus data. That probably leads to a smaller model, and thus less training hours.

My girlfriend and I played a lot of Disney’s Villainous. The game features a board (your realm) with four locations, and a villain tracker that indicates where your villain is. Every turn, you move to an adjacent location and perform all actions there, until one player eventually wins… Or so we thought.
We played with dozens of villains before eventually Oogie Boogie came out. And one of the Hero cards (that are supposed to fuck you up) abilities ends up being “You’re only allowed to move the villain tracker to an adjacent location!”. Which we thought was the rule all along, for all villains.
Queue us having to replay all other villains now knowing you can just move to any location at all, no matter your current location. Our minds were blown that day.
