I find it fascinating that electricity is fast enough that this is a thing. You would never get this wrong with water, and if you did things wouldn’t work right, but electricity is basically instant.
Runner. Nerd. You know :)

I’d rather the five released ASOIAF stay as they are, perpetually unfinished than anything close to the hatchet job that was the GoT show ever be released in book. For me, sometimes just finishing isn’t enough. The books > than the show 10,000 times.
It is a fox with some long long legs! Neat!
All of the people here saying Backyard Scientist is better should check out his latest video.
This is disappointing of Apple. You hire someone like Jon Stewart and you have to expect him to do hard hitting journalism! Apple is one of the biggest companies in the whole world, they can afford to support their journalists. I’m sure HBO has gone to bat for John Oliver for worse.
Feels much more true on Android than Windows in my experience.
I find it helpful to translate medical abbreviations to English. Our doctors tend to go overboard with abbreviations, there are lots I know but there are always a few that leave me scratching my head. ChatGPT seems really good at guessing what they mean! There are other tools I can use, but ChatGPT is faster and more convenient - I can give it context and that makes it more accurate.
And there are physical therapists who do acupuncture strictly for muscle release without all of the chi stuff.
On Lemmy, I sure use it a ton between different Lemmy instances and KBin! On Mastodon I only use it to communicate across Mastodon instances really, but neither service would be the same without the ability to see posts from other instances.
.mil Military (MURRICA)
That is what made this whole .ml problem. Some people have apparently accidentally leaked American state secrets to Mali by typo.
Switched over from Spotify after they went too hard on Joe Rogan, so I never used Google Music. I like YouTube music. That said, they’ve just started adding podcasts - really hope they don’t go the way of Spotify.
I thought everyone had a SFW account and a NSFW account…
I watch Linus from time to time, but don’t get that sort of recommendation (unless I watch some gun videos!). I only watch his tech stuff and don’t know anything about his politics. Now I’m worried.
One potential downside is that the subscriber number actually is just the people who subscribe to that community from your instance and not all instances. This will need a patch from Lemmy itself to fix. As it is it’s a bit misleading, like maybe one Android community seems bigger, but actually it’s just more people from the instance you are using, and not more people overall - there is no current way to know.
This needs to be pinned to the top of Memmy community! My Traverse tab was broken and I couldn’t upvote or comment. That’s all I had to do to fix it. Thanks
There is this remote cabin in the woods belonging to my parents I used to visit frequently, mostly in the summer. I had a chest fridge hooked up to a basic solar panel system I built. One July while visiting I had fully stocked the fridge with food, when I had issues with the solar panel batteries and I couldn’t keep the fridge powered on. I kept putting off cleaning it for the rest of the summer, and then the winter too. Next summer I finally worked up the nerve. Everything, even the cardboard packaging had melted into this brown sludge full of many generations of maggots and flies. The only things semi recognizable was the plastic containers. It took me days and so much bleach to clean it well enough to trust using it again. If it wasn’t such a pain to get out there in the first place I’d have probably tossed the whole thing, but I’m cheap. Still have it, though I don’t get out there much anymore. If my battery dies again I’m throwing everything out right away!
I used to use Arch, but grew tired of having to tinker with stuff and most everything I do is on the browser anyways. For the other stuff I have all of my Linux programs still and Android apps and that feels like enough to me. Not limited at all really, but I don’t play any modern games or anything.
Wow, am I the only ChromeOS user here? That surprises me
My email is the only account that isn’t in my password manager. It is by far the most important account because basically all of my other passwords can be changed if someone has my email. My password manager password and my email password are the only 2 I have to remember, and they are both very strong passwords. Remembering 2 strong passwords isn’t much harder than remembering 1 to me.
