This is great advice for signing up for streaming services, and very, very bad advice for a gym membership.

They absolutely will send your delinquent gym membership account to collections and it will wind up on your credit report. It’s part of their business plan.

You’d have to sign up with a false identity, which is technically fraud.

I expected nothing yet I’m still disappointed…

I was really hoping this would go into effect so I could sign up for a gym membership. I’ll never sign up with a gym again…Their cancellation processes are offensive and predatory.

The “click-to-cancel” rule would force gyms to allow you to cancel your gym membership as easily as you signed up for it.

For some reason these businesses are against losing the free money they get for making it hard to cancel subscriptions.

I’m helping my teenager get through all the horror tropes so we can watch Cabin in the Woods together.

Fair enough. In the Elon one there are probably some people that would want to hear more. It was hard for me to come up with an example.

We shouldn’t downvote the unpopular opinion, we should upvote it. It’s counterintuitive but we’re actually asking for unpopular opinions. I see a lot of truly interesting unpopular opinions in here that are getting downvoted and I’m not sure everyone is on the same page.

The “unpopular opinions” that should be downvoted are the opinions that aren’t really unpopular opinions and are just trolling. You know them when you see them.

What are the “unpopular opinion” rules on Lemmy?

My original understanding from outside Lemmy is you should upvote the truly interesting unpopular opinions for visibility.

For example:

• “I think potato chips are gross” - that is an unpopular opinion and I am truly interested in why you would say that…upvote.
• “Elon Musk makes some good points” - not interesting at all and probably political bullshit trolling…no upvote and a downvote if enabled.

So what will the authorities in the Netherlands do in this situation? Put a ticket on it and then wait for the owner to move it? Tow it to an impound lot? Flip it and light it on fire?

Whatever size the vehicle, you can’t block the tracks…

EDIT: I’ve been in this situation in streetcars in San Francisco and New Orleans. No emergency vehicles came, no super tow truck…the streetcar just waited and blocked traffic until the driver came back and moved their vehicle. I don’t know what would have happened if the driver never came back, but nothing happened in the 20-30 minutes we waited.

Google Assistant on Android and Home devices gets markedly worse as time goes on. My Google Home can barely even figure out how to turn on lights anymore. Things that used to be amazing have devolved into “I don’t understand”.

It’s really quite shocking and hurts a little bit because it feels like everything in the world is degrading and decomposing like in some dystopian novel or something.

How can such amazing technology get worse? Is it really just “we can’t make money off this”?

Yup. I couldn’t shake the feeling of sorrow after watching this movie. Like it just clung to me…

This movie absolutely destroyed me emotionally for like a week. I was wholly unprepared for what this movie was really about. I was expecting an alien invasion movie and got a brickload of emotions dumped on my heart.

Yup. RIF stopped working. Reddit’s official app was a turd sandwich.

I want to say I left Reddit in solidarity with the users and mods at the time, but in reality the Reddit app was just so very, very inconvenient that I tried Lemmy.

Is it good? Like does it actually taste like steak? Economical to produce? Is it better for the economy and the environment, Hell yes, then.

Imagine a perfectly marbled, perfectly rectangular, gristle free Wagyu quality steak that you could sear in some butter in a cast iron and serve right up.

No animal had to be raised and slaughtered. Less drain on resources. Less land usage.

I’m not convinced that the technology will ever get there, but what do I know. I’m just some dude on the internet.

The Philips Respironics nasal pillow works fantastic for me! Everyone is a little different though.

Three things:

1. Don’t stop until you find the right mask. There are a lot of options.
2. Change is always awkward at first. It will take time to get used to.
3. Adjust your attitude. Most people are already convinced that they’re not going to like a CPAP and are angry they have to wear one. Make the effort to be healthy. Eating healthy and getting exercise aren’t fun for most people either. Getting quality sleep is just as important.

Yup! CPAP. Fix your sleep and you’ll feel awake during the day.

I don’t feel sleepy in the afternoon anymore. I sleep and night and stay awake during the day.

Absolutely love winter. It’s my favorite time of the year. I like being inside when it’s cold and dark out. I like not sweating. Feels good man.
