Yeah, it all still depends on how close you are to the fiber, whether pushed over twisted-pair or coax. In some areas, for digital over twisted-pair, it may even still depend on how close you are to a central office. It varies wildly across the country.
I support people who work from home all over the country. People in the boonies are using mobile data and satellite. Those who aren’t suffer terrible DSL connections.
I have coax, and 2 gigabit is an option for me because the fiber Xfinity uses runs right along my neighborhood.
First console—or anything—that I played a video game on. I remember out of the games we had, my favorite was Joust (I was a little kid). Later, we got E.T., and that became my least favorite game.
Me on Lemmy today:
After you reminded me of that as well, I had to look it up, because, what kind of cousin have we been talking about this whole time? Second, third cousin hopefully? Nope. She was his first cousin. I’m not so impressed with his sex life anymore. Gross.
I knew he wasn’t monogamous, but I didn’t know he tried to start a polycule until I read that. Interesting!

The crazy thing about this is not just how evolution reverse-engineered what a snake looks like to a bird (or whatever preys on this moth), but also that some birds are born with an image burned into their brains labeled “avoid.” Snakes are such a problem to animals that may also prey on this moth, that a moth was able, over millions of years of evolution, to mimic that image through selective pressure. We’re not seeing here a moth mimicking a snake, we are seeing a moth’s wings resembling the image its prey holds in its brain of what it should identify as its own predator. An image that, itself, is held genetically and passed down from animal to animal, built by its own selective pressure. It’s amazing that this could produce such a clear image that’s immediately recognizable to us.
My idea is to train several A.I.s on mostly religious ideology, a single religion for each. Then let them converse with each other.
I’m pretty sure most adult dogs and cats understand mirrors, they just get creeped out by their own reflection. Take an adult cat, hold it up to a mirror. Watch as it actively avoids looking at itself. My dog stares at me for long periods through a full-length bedroom mirror and even barks and runs to the window when she sees dogs outside through it. Doesn’t really care much about her own reflection.
My first thought was also that it’s a Pi bottleneck. I have a 4b, and I don’t think I would really trust it to handle some of the higher-quality streaming. Maybe just barely.
Aside from having to switch his stance because Biden dropped out, higher profile politicians have to plan out when they announce their endorsements. The ones that progressive and liberal voters really care about are those of Obama and Bernie. You let the candidate build up some momentum to see how they do, and she did pretty well. They also want to make sure they can actually successfully accomplish making her the new nominee, seeing as how this was a weird situation. Then, you start doling out the endorsements at opportune times. You want to spread them out a little bit, but still leave them close enough to give the public that overall impression when they’re reading the news that the candidate is still building and gaining more momentum. As you can see, it works. Excitement about her replacing Biden is a wake they absolutely should ride as long as they can. Go too fast or too slow and you lose the boost.

Where do I fit if I use all three?
lol you are correct. I meant to reply to the other guy. Low on sleep like many of us here
This happened because a file that CrowdStrike pushed out, which by their own processes is not one that is signed, was immediately pushed out with one of their updates. This update was pushed directly through CrowdStrike’s own method, not via Windows Update. CrowdStrike maintains this capability in order to quickly respond to and prevent security threats. The fact that they have .sys files that aren’t signed is crazy on its own, and a huge screwup by CrowdStrike. So many companies relied upon and trusted this company because up until now, everybody considered it a great product, so it was extremely popular and prevalent. It’s been a huge wake up call for everybody in I.T.
Wasn’t sure if my brain was just filling things in but I could’ve sworn I could kinda see it on the video. I assumed it was maybe because there was some ear matter and a little blood to help it.

Maybe a rogue entity trying to anonymously use it to train an AI or LLM. Either for its data or to learn how to more effectively attack.
Eukaryotes likely evolved during The Great Oxidation Event which saw oxygen levels rise to levels that were toxic to the Cyanobacteria (which use photosynthesis). We evolved to save them!
