Also, I don’t want any of what they’re describing. I want my OS to be what allows the programs I use to run, nothing more, nothing less. I don’t want it to try and guess what I’m doing, or look at my screen.
Not so much the user experience, but I’m not aware of any software that doesn’t work with Microsoft, except for ones developed by Apple.
With the latest version of Windows, it’s not even a question as to whether a given piece of software will run.

If Google is forced to sell Chrome, is anything stopping them from simply developing another Chromium based browser and immediately beginning to siphon customers from what is now the competition?
Because that seems to be something that would seriously limit the value of the browser.
I’m the same, I’ve got a perfectly good desktop machine that isn’t Win11 compatible, as well as a Windows 11 laptop.
Most of what I do on the desktop is browser based, and I have the laptop in case I brick the desktop, so nothing to lose by trying.
Ironically, if I’d been able to upgrade to 11, there’s no way I’d bother with any of this.
