  • You have a big heart, and that’s a good thing. I could not disagree with you more. ‘No man left behind’ is a noble code to live to but I think that following it to an absolute sense defeats it’s purpose. ‘No man left behind’ to me means anybody on my team is never alone. The key is they have to be on my team and in this case everyone who isn’t a nazi is on my team. Neo-nazis have made real threats against people who I’m on the same team with and I would be leaving them behind if I didn’t oppose neo-nazis. If it comes to it, yeah Nazi lives don’t matter.

I’m not saying hunt them down and kill them. I’m saying take the ones who have actually done terrible things, put them in prison. Tell them to either grow up and change, or stay behind bars until they’re so insignificant that there’s no need to hold them anymore or until they die naturally. Holding neo-nazis accountable shouldn’t be controversial. If that requires taking their life I won’t shed any tears, but that is absolutely a last resort.

  • Hahahaha! No! Not with neo-nazis. Look with racists and bigots I’ll agree, try compassion first. I’ve done that and for most racists and bigots I’ve confronted it has worked. I didn’t change them to be a champion of minorities but usually I can convince someone to behave nicer. Neo-nazis on the other hand are not just regular racists and bigots who say terrible things but don’t actually do anything. Neo-nazis are the extreme and if they’re an adult regardless of their life experience they know what they’re saying is wrong. So no, I have no compassion and will never have compassion for an adult who is a neo-nazi. Period.

  • Using NATO to stop Trump, you want WW3? Because that’s how you get WW3. You’re not going to get any help until you help yourselfs. It’s your house, you have to clean it up. If you need an idea of a place to start, I’d start with the Democrats.

If you have democratic senators you should be a thorn in their side about why aren’t they grinding the Senate to a halt. Why they aren’t using every tool available to resist senate Republicans. The Republicans did when Obama was president and he wasn’t a fascist. Now seems like a good time to start using all those republican cheats to blanket obstruct the Senate and Congress.

If you have republican senators you should be getting involved with the democratic party, first screaming and dragging everyone you know with you. Then demanding over and over that the old game is dead and they need you and the people to get out of this.

Regardless, no one is coming to save you. You need to first believe that you can actually work with your neighbors, then saves yourselves. Tons of Americans have been begging for your help to stop Trump for over a decade now and you thought it was just their job to take care of it. Well guess what, it was yours too and you failed to answer the call.

Historically, food wasn’t as abundant as it is today. Gluttony as a sin, at least with food, isn’t the same today as it was 200 years ago. That’s a ridiculous argument to make. If you really want to speak ‘historically’, it was advantageous for our hunter gatherer ancestors to exploit any opportunity for extra food because they never knew when the next meal would be. We’re still hardwired for that, except food isn’t rare anymore it’s abundant for most people on the planet.

Besides, food addiction isn’t the same as other additions, an alcoholic can obtain from drinking alcohol, an opioid addict can too, no one can stop eating food. Unlike other additions, someone who’s obese because of their eating habits can’t quit food. The thing their addicted to is in front of their face every day.

Honestly the easier way to switch from solar DC to grid AC is to just have a flywheel between the grid and the solar power plant. It might not be as efficient as a capacitor bank or super capacitor bank but it’s dead simple to implement and it’s extremely reliable.

  • Corporations are trying to set the precedent that they can not be held responsible for what their AI does. If it required an employee action to follow through then there’s a point of liability. Zero oversight isn’t a bug of AI, it’s a feature. It puts more distance between the people at the top and any liability or consequences they might face.

‘Why I could not have known this software was wrong 90% of the time, I’m not a computer scientist. It’s beside the point that all those mistakes AI from the company we contracted were in our favor. Regardless that’s in the past, the new generation of Artificial Intelligence will correct those mistakes and will detect 10% more fraud. It’s wonderful that we finally have a tool to combat the rampant fraud and bad actors that has taken over this country.’

So this maybe kills the joke, which made me laugh. In my personal experience, most engineers are part scientists, and scientists who study engineering are part engineers. I can say that at least a small handful of the scientists I’ve met who study engineering may not really understand why engineers use a specific safety margin for a specific purpose, they understand practically that it’s because no one wants to come close to a things tolerance. Especially when public safety is concerned.

It’s a joke though. It’s hyperbole, and I thought it was funny.

  • USB-c cables can vary drastically. Power delivery alone ranges from less than 1 amp at 5 volts to over 5 amps at 20 volts. That’s 5 watts of power on the low end to 100 watts of power on the high end and sometimes more. When a cable meant to run at 5 watts has over 100 watts of power run through, the wires get really hot and could catch fire. The charger typically needs to talk to a very small chip in the high power cables for the cables to say, yes I can handle the power. Really cheap chargers might just push that power out regardless. So while the USB-c form factor is the one plug to rule them all, the actual execution is a fucking mess.

  • Anon isn’t dumb, just simple. Nuclear energy can be the best solution for certain situations. While renewables are the better choice in every way, they’re effectiveness isn’t equally distributed. There are places where there just isn’t enough available renewable energy sources year round to supply the people living there. When energy storage and transmission methods are also not up to the task, nuclear becomes the best answer. It shouldn’t be the first answer people look to but it is an answer. An expensive answer but sometimes the best one.

Also nuclear waste doesn’t have to be a problem. If anyone was willing to cover the cost of burning it in a breeder reactor for power or burry it forever. It just is because it’s expensive.
