I wasn’t able to disable Copilot in Office without threatening to cancel via my account management page. It’s only then that they give you the option to fall back to the originally priced plan that specifically doesn’t include Copilot. And even after that, Copilot apparently won’t be removed from my locally installed copies of the Office apps until my plan renewal date in April! I’m pretty sure I’m gonna use the time to transition all my documents to LibreOffice and fully cancel my MS Office plan before it renews.

I’m one of like 5 people on the planet who still uses his minidisc player. I’ve bought some of the blank minidiscs Sony was still making. Seeing them finally end production hurts. I have a bunch of minidiscs already, but I feel like I should stock up before prices go nuts.

Are you talking about the highways? If so, those gave me trouble at first too, but I figured it out. Once you select one from the toolbar, tap a point on the map. That’ll be where it starts. Then, tap the location of the destination, and the highway will form itself automatically connecting those two points.

I honestly can’t tell how your comment applies to what I said. Yes, monopolies are bad. That’s why I said that Steam being so much larger than their competitors is a problem. I’m pretty sure we agree on that point, but your comment seems antagonistic and I don’t know why.

Steam being larger than all their PC competitors put together is certainly a problem, but I don’t think it’s a problem that’s affecting the topic the article discusses. That seems to be an entirely different issue.

I don’t suppose you know if there’s another company that’s gonna end up with the license? From what I can tell, this company has only had the license for a few years (since 2021, I think). Seems a pretty short run for a franchise this big.

While I agree with just about all of your points, there’s one thing I’m not clear on. Who’s the monopolist in your scenario? The console space has 3 competitors and on the PC side, you’ve got several more. I don’t see any of the big PC or console companies dictating game development trends. That seems to me to come from the publishers chasing the next big thing, or trying to make their own version of the last big thing. The rest of what you said is spot on, though. We need stronger unions and we need to demystify what developers do. And we absolutely need to tell the tech bro types to fuck off and stop stinking up the place.

I would not say no! I enjoyed the first two Torchlight games.

They did indeed. That game had its problems, but I liked it. I remember seeing it years later, after the game had been sold to… I wanna say it was a Korean company. They massacred the writing and the game is unrecognizable now, which is sad.

Didn’t they do that years ago when the Diablo 1 and 2 devs formed their own studio and made Torchlight 1 and 2? And then went under because the games didn’t sell enough and the IP got sold to some shady company who made it into a weird, half assed MMO?

They’ve always been quite clear that this is a passion project and that they’re nowhere near done with it. However, that doesn’t stop a chunk of the community from being absolutely convinced that the next update is the last, pointing to all kinds of obscure wording from old interviews or data mined files that are clearly incomplete as proof of this. It’s a really weird thing and I don’t get it at all. I remember last year a lot of people were spreading rumors that the summer update would be the last, based on kind of weird numerology. It’s baffling.

To add to this great list, I’d recommend Blur. Imagine Mario Kart, except fair and in a realistic setting with real cars. This game was phenomenal and should have had so many sequels. Alas, it was the swan song of Bizarre Creations.
