In the case with Google AI overview, I 1000% agree. I am not against all AI tools, but that company has clearly chosen evil.
I like that trick, noted! I mostly use DuckDuckGo as a browser and search engine now. If it fails I use ChatGPT
I am not saying other generative AI lack flaws, but Google’s AI Overview is the most problematic generative AI implementation I have ever seen. It offends me that a company I used to trust continues to force this lie generator as a top result for the #1 search engine. And to what end? Just to have a misinformed populace over literally every subject!
OpenAI has issues as well, but ChatGPT is a much, much better search engine with far fewer hallucinations per answer. Releasing AI Overview while the competition is leagues ahead on the same front is asinine!
People shouldn’t compare things to gatekeeping unless they can build a cast iron gate
Healthy masculinity is understanding that many younger men look up to you, so you must be a role model for them. Manifest that in whatever way you believe is best, and you are a healthy masculine person. (This is just, like, my opinion)
New religions are founded every day. The issue is that they are either united by notions, which are squishy, or by a cult leader claiming divine inspiration. The squishy ones don’t last long, or else get taken over by a cult leader.
If anyone would know how to pronounce it, it’s a computer
In my personal journey, I came to be permanently skeptical of all organized religions. None of them are infallible, all of them are a cult to a degree. Here are some other beliefs I hold today:
1 - There might be something real behind exorcisms and hauntings, regardless of the validity of the religions who treat them. I base this on conversations I’ve held with witnesses I trust.
2 - I don’t think there is only one higher power. Whether there are tiers, I cannot say.
3 - The evidence for reincarnation is fascinating. Check out the history of the university of Virginia and it’s department dedicated to the supernatural.
4 - Some people can see/commune with the dead. Whether any can do it at will is another story. Most of the people I believe are private about it, most of those who sell the service seem phony.
5 - Although I don’t believe in any religion, I was my best self when I did. Faith in a moral cause does wonders for the soul, regardless of factuality. Prayer, meditation, and ritual are good for the soul. Community is incredible.
Honestly, my favorite use case for ChatGPT is as an Internet search engine. Google has become so shitty that I outsource it’s main job lol. I just tell ChatGPT to send me reputable sources as links for the query, and I skip the bullshit.
It’s also not a bad way to generate SEO friendly descriptions for eBay listings, if you have a lot to list and are lazy. You can move a lot faster and get better results than using the default ai that site has. It would be ideal to personally write everything and be an SEO expert, but you are mostly guiding people to see the photos and just need the metadata perks of the jargon.
I once dropped a puppy to see if it would land on its feet.
I was four.
Children have to learn/develop empathy. It’s ok that you lacked it at one point. It’s wonderful you have it today. Never listen to anyone who says it’s a sin.
Here is a plan I like:
Step one - Regroup and storm. We need to have infighting until a new left leaning populist movement emerges that can defeat this right wing populist movement. That requires folks to argue, bang their heads, retreat, and emerge anew. Accept the infighting for a bit.
Step two - rally around a new message. The message needs to be emotional, simple, and economic. It needs to undermine this administration entirely, exploiting their economic weakness. The policy should be reduced to a three word chant, with each word being a single syllable. Think about the simplicity and rhythm of “Drain The Swamp” or “Build The Wall,” but imagine a good message that builds the economy for the masses.
Step three - back the most charismatic politician who adopts the message at every level of government.
The collapse of the Soviet Union in the late 80s into the early 90s is all I think about. Now Russia is a new kind of hell.
I’ve always felt that one’s rhythm matches a marching drum. Not as well rounded but strong for that one purpose .
I think No More Kings is another appealing one right now

We used to call ourselves the “Land of the Free, and the Home of the Brave.”
This is a calling to honor those titles
Buddy, I never said the word definition
