I didn’t want to discredit the reviews, just give more context to the situation. I don’t think that there is any AAA dev that has 8 year old games at such a high priority level that they would fix any “posthumous” issues immediately.

The game is an eight years old single player game. I doubt they had many people working on it anymore.

Larian Studios who made Baldur’s Gate 3 could technichally be called an Indie dev despite the big budget and employee count. The company is privately owned by its founder and the games are self published.

With something like the heroic launcher you don’t even need to install the Epic games launcher. Just redeem the game through the website and play them through heroic.

For Linux you can use Heroic if you want a launcher. Otherwise you can just download the installers on their website.

My phone can install APKs out of the box. XAPKs need a separate installer though, but that is a one time problem. Many APKs even get recognised by the playstore which made it easier to update it.

My device either isn’t verified or in some way geolocked for some apps so I had to get APKs of them to use those apps and I never had a problem with that.

Does it have to be a JRPG? If you want tactics in your turn-based games I recommend looking into cRPGs as the genre originally started as adaptions of tabletop games and has way deeper tactics compared to most JRPGs. Stuff like the Baldur’s Gate games, Dragon Age, Wasteland, Divinity: Original Sin 1+2 or Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura are all turn-based or real-time with pause which work similar enough to count. As a plus point most of them allow you to be rather creative in the way you play from stuff like talking an opponent into killing themselves to turning opponents into chicken and letting them bleed out with another skill.

On Steam rollbacks are possible with the ‘betas’ feature, but few developers use them. Total War: Warhammer 3 allows rollbacks after bigger updates because those typically break older saves. The option to roll back is hidden in the properties option.
