To be fair Sony may have produced quality electronics but their tactics have always been anti consumer.
They always insist on proprietary everything and try to get first mover advantage for each new iteration of tech and then lock the market down. The problem is they hold out for so long with their proprietary formats that it makes their products unattractive. Case in point their memory cards.
Requiring a psn account is just another anti consumer control tactic by the company.
Except the “AI” part would be using a linear static formula to adjust the brightness of the RGB LEDs based on ambient light which only works when connected to the wifi and you must install a dodgy likely spyware app that requires a $49/yr subscription to keep it working.
The buttons would probably be a touchscreen though. Which is annoying because now you are running an ugly 2m USB C cable to the nearest outlet you needed to buy a 40w usb-pd charger for they didn’t mention you would need to buy on the box - you know, because we all just have the myriad USB charging technologies already in our homes.
The new model now that it’s out of preview is performing significantly less “thinking”

I was running an it services business at the time, so got to see a broad number of machines and peoples complaints.
I think the massive jump in ram required was a huge problem, it went from most people having 128mb to 256mb, to a minimum of 512, but a reality of 2gb required.
Plus the indexer was relentless and just smashed HDDs.
Drivers were a problem too but people understood they would need to be have upgrades for their fancy new system.
Then xp to vista happened and it looked pretty but was unusable. Then 7 came out and it solved all the BS and was a relief. Then 8 came out and it looked pretty but was unusable. Nobody is quite sure what happened with 9 but 10 was ok I guess, better than 8. Then I started using Linux because I was sick of the bullshit.
Op is not underemployed - he is working 2 jobs
Love how Bing chat just gets uncomfortable all the time and nopes out of most conversations
