This. I think the best way to make the Internet less sh*tty is to get away from Google search.
I like the SearX search engine. It gives old-school, relevant search results, not google ranked ones.

This. Eventually, some billionaire will buy up BlueSky and make it shitty. It’s much harder for one person to take over a defederated platform, spread out over hundreds of instances in several countries.
The AI hardware isn’t for us. It’s for Google and Microsoft, so they can steal your computer’s CPU time and hard drive space so they can build their own personal Skynets. (Same thing with CoPilot, which requires 50gigs of your hard drive space. You’re also paying for the privilege of being spied on, which is nice for them, I guess.)

16·2 months agoThe article was incredibly light on specifics. What were the hateful / threatening messages? Why would anyone have a problem with helping developers find new jobs? Why were those developers fired in the first place?
When you consider the billions that are at stake in cramming “AI” into computers, cars, phones, agit-prop generation and military hardware, I there’s a non-zero chance that his death wasn’t accidental. Maybe a second coroner’s opinion is in order.

And if folks are worried that their computer’s hardware won’t be supported (wifi, touchscreen, mousepad, soundcard or a weird mobile graphics driver) I recommend testing it by booting from a live linux flash drive. If everything works with the live version, it should work with the installed version, too.

Ever wonder why websites that use Captchas prefer pictures of cars, busses, crosswalks, stop signs, bicycles, motorcycles and stairs?
