Senior Chief Petty Officer. Starfleet is in my blood, and I’ve spent my entire adult life in service to boldly going.

Keiko and Molly are my favorite humans, but Transporter Room 3 will always be my favorite.

Just don’t ask who what’s in the pattern buffer.

  • It was.

In Ohio? I’m almost positive it isn’t legal. It’s definitely illegal in states like California. But they’re banking on nobody recording their interview audio (which I will now be doing as Ohio is single-party state) and nobody complaining if asked.

I doubt it’s a company policy, but I did send an email to their company offices to complain about it, for all the good it will do.

  • Not programming, but in the same vein, A Trek Bicycle store manager asked me in an interview if I would be willing to work a trial shift the next day building bicycles. Unpaid, of course. Just to see if I was a good fit.

Of course, since I was used to building 50 a day, I would have gotten all of them done in a single shift whereas they were needing to call in stores from surrounding areas to come help in a few days.

I laughed and said if they needed help tomorrow I would be happy to work for my usual fee of $20/bike.

Oddly, I did not get the job

  • It’s still weak, just like humans are still slow.

At least compared to other animals.

But like gravity, we just keep going. And going. And going.

And when the animals we hunted collapsed from exhaustion, we just kept coming. And then took it all the way back we came.

    Just like gravity.

We can try to keep going until we just can’t anymore, but gravity will just grab us and haul us back.

Compared to the other forces, gravity is a weak ass bitch.

If it’s what I’m thinking of, camera footage of a vehicle interior.

Driving down the highway, going under an overpass when a brick gets tossed by some kids and goes through the window.

Passenger hit, husband is driving and screams.

You know that scream they mention in The Princess Bride? That “only someone experiencing ultimate suffering” can make?

    If you know, you know.

  • My favorite group I have ever DMd for was at a convention, it was 2am, and nobody had ever met before except the two couples in the mix of 9. I just ran part of a campaign I was working on for a different group.

I barely had to interact with them for RP stuff unless it was to drive the plot, or play a character they convinced to join them.

It was great seeing a large muscular guy dressed like a Dwarven blacksmith role play a halfling, and the smallest person there was playing as a half-orc barbarian from the plains of icewind dale.

And of course since it was a convention, and some of them had LARP gear with them, a friendly competitive sword fight broke out during a rest and instead of rolling, they just went ahead and used foam swords and stepped away from the tables. And borrowed dialogue from the princess bride.

Most groups definitely prefer combat, and to be honest so do I unless I’m running the game. Maybe I just haven’t played with the right group or character, or more likely I just suck at it. Either way…

I think everyone has “that one group” they wish they could play with forever and never have scheduling conflicts…
