steam pros: a store that always has a sale or big holiday sale right around the corner, a social network, a library for game info and game modding, and a trophy case etc.

what was amazon offering? full priced games, no sales that beat steams (a free game offer now and then only if you give them $140 a year and forget about it), and shitty cloud streaming of few games? so they tried nothing actually meaningful, were all out of ideas, but shocked they lost

oh and also on a platform notorious for making e-books unable to work on pcs, forcing their proprietary hardware for a PDF. and now they’re actually going in and changing/censoring whats written in books without authors consent.

for me the decline started with the introduction of boss fights in Halo 2. CE blew my mind with zero ‘supervillain’ level boss fights most games that i played at the time resorted to. i really liked the concept that the three big antagonists were an advanced civilization of never ending zealots hellbent on ending the universe for their religion, then there’s the hive mind of mindless swarming parasitic alien lifeform hellbent on eating/becoming the universe aka its own religion, and the ancient remnants droids that watch over it all like an endless production line metal monks guarding and maintaining said remnants like a religion…

anywho by the time of 5 the “villains” were so Marvel level of cheese/boring i was willing to press halo’s big red button and just be done with it all.

i will always champion for character creators in any game. mass effect proved you could have a heavy “story based” game with two main versions of the single main character + the countless custom personal creations

for example it is an absolute crime star wars outlaws and the jedi ones did not have a custom human character but also not all of the amazing alien races you could of played. such. a. waste.

yall really should be more upset that its an RPG type game in the star wars universe with tons of interesting aliens and races + new unknown main characters… but no you have to play as a milk toast human again. for a 70$ i expect there to be at least the “human” aliens. for a 130 though it would have to have playable ithorians, hutts, and B’omarr monks
