I think you give them too much credit. As long as it doesn’t actively hurt their numbers, like x, it’s just part of the budget.
I made some video game themed Xmas ornaments out of air dry clay as a gift… they turned out fine, but I didn’t realize the paint I used on them didn’t do a good enough job sealing them up. They should have been resin-dipped. In places the paint cracked, moisture got in, and over a couple years expanded the paper-based clay through the cracks so they look super creepy now. Very disappointing.
Mistakes are a great way to learn, though.

On the subject of existing asset use… I played yonder: the cloud catcher chronicles, and I am fairly certain the sound for rain in that game is actually the sound of something gently sizzling in a pan.
It’s super close, but -just- wrong enough for me to notice. And then be mildly bothered by it for the next 40 hours of playtime.
I spent 172 hours retrying the final boss fight on ff8. I mistakenly saved just before the end boss with 2 phoenix downs, a handful or potions and ethers, and not much else. It took weeks to beat her alone.
I learned many things in those multiple weeks of doing basically the same thing over and over again, with minor tweaks to strategy… the first of which is always maintain a second save at least 3 hours prior to the current save. The second thing was never have an empty inventory even if you legit never bother using any of it. Don’t sell anything until you hit max stax.
And finally I learned that sometimes trying the same exact thing for the 20th time actually does work for reasons. And that was on like ps1 framework. A lot more stuff is a lot more random now.
Yeah, with this I’m rethinking launching an educational video channel, and will probably end up just sharing my info via blog (are blogs even still a thing?)
Which is disappointing, honestly, because the info lends itself to a video medium, but… meh. My safety is a lot more important than sharing info.
I feel for anyone out there who already has easy-to-locate pics out there… and I hope the people in their lives tell them about this so they can do what makes them comfortable.
I guess I haven’t really had the smelly problem (or at least nobody has mentioned it…). I have to use unscented detergents due to fragrance allergy, and I think thats a big part of why I don’t have that problem. The scented detergents leave so many residues to hold the scent that your own scent tends to stick more. Or maybe you just notice it more as it mingles with a scent you are used to. Not sure, but the unscented stuff at worst smells a bit musty.
When I get deodorant buildup or the musty smell, I do a warm cycle with enzyme detergent (usually wash on tap cold, but when I do a warm cycle I use dirty labs unscented enzyme detergent. I’ve tried others, including scented, before I found that and they worked decently too) and it clears right up.
If you have the smelly problem with bedsheets or towels or anything, look into laundry stripping. You can do it with natural cotton and whatever clothing as well, but it requires super hot water so it does cause some damage to the fabric.
Considering I buy clothes every few years at most, still have clothes from middle school and I’m almost 40, generally don’t throw stuff out when it starts getting worn just repurpose it, and recently started buying almost exclusively athletic clothing due to build and material quality, probably a really long time tbh.
I also don’t usually wear clothes at home, which helps. Bathrobe. I have five of those.
I’d bet I could survive the bulk of my remaining life without getting new clothes, but they’d be in rough shape by then.
I guess the people in charge haven’t read the rifters trilogy. I don’t trust any of ‘em, but at least we already have a pandemic; they probably can’t make it worse.
I’m with you except diapers. Those are medically necessary items and I wouldn’t want to deny people medical necessities, even if they are a shit heel and deserve to have shit heels.

I drove home last night around midnight in super thick fog going through a few cities on the way, and I really enjoyed it.
There wasn’t a lot of traffic, but the fog did reduce the spikiness and glare of headlights (very soothing filter), acted as an IRL Adblock because it was hard to read billboards without trying, and the diffusion of overhead and tail lights highlighted the actual road making it easier to see the road far ahead.
It’s a lot weirder walking through it as it swirls around you though. When I was stationed in Monterrey ca, the fog would roll in down the steep sloping roads, it was super surreal, it would follow after you if you were headed down into town.

I’m struggling heavily to find that OS to learn more about it (literally just got a google tcl tv delivered today, as my old one died last week), can you provide a link of some variety?
I was very heartened to find out that it’s just big android, so there’s likely a lot that can be done with it (but I got it to be dumb).
The only problem I found with this is that Roku knows it’s being blocked so it’ll kill some apps over time (like the Plex app) in a way that forces you to fully reinstall the app. Which means unblocking their domain and allowing them to phone home (or disabling/bypassing pihole), because the app downloads go through that domain as well.
Before I just factory reset them and denied them any internet at all, Plex would break and need to be reinstalled about every 2 months like clockwork, and it wasn’t due to app updates or anything. I know this because I did a test once; reset on one tv, and 2 weeks later on another one. The first called for an update at roughly the 2 month mark, and the other exactly two weeks later. Meanwhile an absolutely ancient Samsung tv still has a copy of the Plex app that hasn’t been updated in like 5 years (it’s a fully obsolete tv)… works fine.
My speculation is that it records the data for that period, and then breaks things you use so it can phone home when you are forced to connect it to fix it.

I switched thermostats due to the old one failing, and getting a basic smart thermostat was required for a hefty rebate that basically made it free… and the one I have now, the app thought my not-major-brand phone was a tablet. I couldn’t hit the button to turn down the heat, only up, because it was cut off due to scaling.
So yeah, requiring apps for interface is bad. Even if you are willing to use it there’s so freakin many various versions of android that it’s guaranteed to not work properly for a whole swath of people, mostly those on budget devices.
