You consider 6-8 seconds a “little” slow?!
I’m in the UK so didn’t see the last one but during the previous one I found looking around at the darkness and observing how all the birds went quiet was a bigger deal than the actual eclipse of the sun. I mean that was still really cool, but the dark and stillness was uncanny.
It touches on it briefly, but refeeding syndrome is a killer and is very hard to treat even in hospital not in a war zone. Even if the war stopped tomorrow and food was abundant, there’s nowhere to treat patients who have been starving - more will die.
Advance free give aways in exchange for “honest” reviews. Still shady af.
I’m a millennial and don’t use Facebook. None of my zoomer family members use Facebook. In fact the only people I know who do use it are boomers.
My dumb TV is 15 years old. It’s a bit small for the space and there’s a W burned into it but you can only see it on static screens.
I would like a new one but it’s pretty low down on the list of things I need to buy with the 37p I manage to save each month.
Yeah I paid for alien blue pro or whatever it was called. Then they killed the app and gave me a year of Reddit premium (my memory is shit, idk the proper name). After a month or so I switched to Apollo, Reddit’s app was just so shit. I left when Apollo died and now only use dystopia (an app designed for blind users) for the infrequent times I visit Reddit. No adds. It’s almost read only. But it’s ideal for visiting niche subs that aren’t on lemmy without giving Reddit clicks/seeing ads.
I’m in the UK but I got a letter in the post asking me to join the IPSOS surveys done here. It’s just randomly selected households I think. I get emails every few weeks asking me to complete a questionnaire online. Most of the questions are politics based which I don’t have much interest in, but you get paid in points that you can turn into Amazon vouchers or whatever. It’s a nice bit of pocket money when you’re strapped for cash.
I have two goddaughters, born 4 years apart. Each were due on 29th Feb, both arrived on the 1st March. I’m still disappointed by their lateness.
But in both cases the parents had decided to celebrate on the 1st of March on non-leap years, had they arrived on their due dates.
Do both pupils work? How does it effect vision?
Hey, same here! But it’s been 10 years since we had a holiday. I hope you have a wonderful time!
And it will be £2.99 a month on top of the prime cost to watch without them.
The pile of logs to the left looked so odd I had to zoom. Then I saw the weird filter they used. I’d love to see the original, or something not run through a prism style filter.
I’m sensing you don’t like going to the office…
I remember at the start of the first lockdown there were a bunch of young people in flat shares that really really struggled because the only private place they had to work was their bedrooms. I can definitely understand why people might like to work in the office for that reason and reasons like your own.
I mean workers feel like that, but employees and governments don’t seem to. And the propaganda against WFH is still going strong.
Definitely. Before going into the office I’d shower, do my hair, put in contacts, put on a little bit of make up and wear clean and ironed work clothes. If I were working at home, having a bath or shower at some point in the day and wearing clean clothes is about it. Even if I decided to do my hair and make up, I’d probably do it in working hours between meetings - the time I would have wasted talking to co workers or staring out the window if I was in the office.
I moderate a couple of communities that fit that criteria - you can have a discussion but ultimately they’re just mildly amusing screenshot/photo communities. Initially the comment section was much much more friendly here than Reddit but I’ve definitely noticed a decline recently, say the last 2 weeks. Some of the messages I get when I warn people not to insult others are becoming unhinged. I know it’s bound to happen, lemmy is still the internet. But I had hoped for a place where people didn’t call each other fucking dickheads for having a different opinion.
I genuinely thought this was a joke, fake or satire.
