Once again, with Republicans, every accusation is a confession. But yeah, Clinton was shit enough to make it easy for them.

He got out in front of his PR operation on that one, but a lot of leftists had him pegged long before that incident. It was obvious that he was funding an astroturf campaign to deify himself, and he has always been rabidly aggressive to worker’s rights.
Most Ukraine funding is actually in the form of weapons, most of which have been sitting in warehouses in case of war with Russia. Now they get used before going obsolete and the US’s #1 rival is quickly becoming irrelevant without putting US soldiers at risk. We provide the weapons and Ukraine supplies the soldiers. I think we got the better side of that bargain.
This whole idea that the US is spending money abroad out of some kind of altruism or that we just let other countries take advantage is preposterous. It’s always money spent in furtherance of US interests. We are the wealthiest country in the world in large part because we exploit the labor and resources of the rest of the planet.
If she’s not a complete idiot, she probably already has more retirement savings than the average gen-xer. Assuming the pyramid scheme that is our stock market keeps growing, she might have already saved all she needs to. If the bubble collapses, she will just be living in a mad max apocalypse with the rest of us.
Yep. Biden and Harris come to mind, as does the rest of the Democratic establishment. If they didn’t prefer Trump to Bernie, this would be a much sweeter timeline.
Most of Trump’s cabinet ranges from morally indifferent to outright hostile to human beings. The only exception I think I see is RFK Jr. who is just batshit insane.
Down payment on a bribe.
The computers we have today help to do logistics to “feed, clothe and house the homeless”. They also help you to advocate to do more. How much of that would be comprehensible to someone living in 1900?
I’m not sure that homelessness is a problem quantum computing or AI are suitable for. However, AI has already contributed in helping to solve protein folding problems that are critical in modern medicine.
Solving homelessness and many other problems isn’t resource constrained as you think. It’s more about the will to solve them, and who profits from leaving them unsolved. We have known for decades that providing homes for the homeless in a large city actually saves the city money, but we’re still not doing it. Renewable energy has been cheaper than fossil fuels for almost as long. Medicare for all would cost significantly less than the US private healthcare system, and would lead to better results, but we aren’t doing that either.
Where should he have been gunned down then? The footage was pretty good, but better lighting and sound would be nice.
Getting gunned down is exactly what should happen to mass murderers. That is exactly what this guy was. When the system fails as consistently as ours has, people are going to take care of justice themselves. The fact that it hasn’t happened at scale is the result of remarkable restraint on the part of the working class.
This isn’t a Lemmy thing. This response has been nearly universal in every space where public comments can be found.
It’s actually made a little worse by EVs because of battery weight.
Some people just want to watch the world burn.
Disinformation coming out of the FDA is a real issue though, it’s just that RFK isn’t exactly the person we should want trying to fix it. His list covers the entire spread from significant real issues to batshit crazy conspiracy theory, leaning heavily towards the latter.
It’s notable that the areas in most need of reform were all broken by conservative politicians.
I refuse to call any Billionaires Americans. A billionaire in America has far more in common with a billionaire in Ireland or France than with working class Americans. They don’t use our schools, drink our water, drive our roads, or rely on our safety nets. They don’t take out the trash, do their laundry, wait 6 months for a doctor’s appointment, or stress over defunding their retirement to pay for needed medication.
Billionaire involvement in politics should be considered foreign interference. Of course AIPAC is foreign interference too, but apparently that’s not a problem either.
Best I could do without a definition for the stupid use of “leftist extremists” with no definition. My point is, there is zero evidence to blame this election on leftists of any stripe.
You have data to back that up I assume?
Biden had polling in his hands that said Trump would get 400 electoral votes against him on the day he decided to run for a second term. Then he held on just long enough to make certain we would have no primary and be stuck with a candidate who couldn’t shake the stink of his presidency.
Harris lost the popular vote by over 4-million votes. There aren’t that many “leftist extremists” in the whole damn country, and only a small subset of those wouldn’t have voted for Harris.
The vast bulk of those who stayed home were left leaning apolitical normies. Most of the country fits in that group.
Maybe they both die and we get Mike Johnson!
The sad part is that that also describes what the Democrats did to get us into this mess.
I’m not being smart or funny, but apparently I’m getting under your skin.
Say what you will about socialist beliefs, they are absolutely more nuanced, historically rooted, and varied than what you call libertarian. You also don’t see super wealthy corporate oligarchs as thought leaders on the left. Your Ayn Rand inspired cult was entirely assembled by oligarch sponsored anarcho-capitalist think tanks.
I haven’t argued for socialism of any kind here, and I won’t. You have probably heard most of the reasons why your opinions on socialism are nonsense, and you have probably not really heard any of them. I’m not wasting my time on that.
You guys all spout the same platitudes constantly and ignore every reality based argument. It’s not exactly opaque (or interesting).
We could get a lot more benefit if we spent that money on building infrastructure instead of blowing shit up, but I still agree. Doing the right thing and US interests aligning doesn’t seem to happen very often. I think we have to act when they do.
