I don’t know anything about cryptology; I have an imagination about how many things can go wrong hooking up parts and running them.
If it’s the law to make an age verification system then it will be made.
But I think one either has an age verification or privacy, but not both, in any country in the world.
I’m totally sure many of the discussions here about crypto are way above my head. But I’m equally sure while any one part will look fine in paper, the sum total will be used by an expanding government agency, crime, or both.
Doesn’t this assume the issuing agency has all employees who are morally sound and not leaking data, unnoticed by an internally badly designed system, which is designed by people who are out of touch? Most things like this are designed that way, irregardless of country .
I’m sure one can make it watertight but it’s so hard and still depends in trusting people. The conversation here is about one thing of a larger system. There are probably a hundred moving parts in any bureaucracy.
He expressed support by making an avoidable visit. Just like I would express support to the wife beater in my neighborhood by having lunch with him.
I read the letter by squinting , totally worth the read and the post
I decided I like this wasted money effort and resources. The market is not saturated so much as it’s waiting for true innovation, and that happens every day by thousands of small companies who are being suppressed by the big monopolies .
So the more that is wasted in AI, the more the little guys win because even the monopolies have finite resources and have to pull away from other things, new things, good things. Things that are provided by decidedly small companies who can be squashed easily
Yes, what we have here in this thread is a reaction to the collapse of tech news.
It’s still exponentially growing in all fields with tens of millions of brilliant technical and scientific people. It’s just that the reporting of it has collapsed due to … gasp… technology advancement which upset the economic model which supported reporting and well written articles.
That, and the fact things are advancing so fast nobody a clue what is going on outside their specific interests
All of us had ancestors hunted by one or more of those
Or one can be proud: enshittified since 1986
I’m really unclear about when this was written, but it does not include rust or type safety
Yes, it’s good to know stuff like that , and even though there are not too many solutions today other than “containerize and hope”, this is part of a good software engineering education
All code today is coupled to complex ecosystems which may thrive or perish later. There are no good solutions which can be given out as generic advice.
And even specific solutions to any tech stack can be hit or miss. Time kills all projects unless they are run in a frozen environment which itself keeps up with the times, constantly
What drives adoption?
I would be interested to see how they improve gig workers being exploited by algorithms, or if that is even going to happen.
There is a difference between the old fashioned scams with textbooks, and the new AI scams. Its true they have a lot of things in common. But the AI scams are more centralized, more powerful, can make more money. These are forging new ways to con people.
But we have gone through several generations of new scams, they are not all bad. Such greed and kickbacks are probably healthier than realized and contribute to a stable society somehow in a way that escapes me, but I feel is valid
I think he is suggesting he himself will come under legal scrutiny, threatening him: ergo mars, humanity and everything else.
It’s all about him
Are they not separating bot logins from human logins ? I did not see a breakdown for that. I’m wondering if anyone knows
Omg I just realized AI is the new monkeys… that is disturbing
I tried to moderate in a large subreddit and all I did was protect people who I did not like, or who got into slap fights. Quit after a few months.
That and labor organizing, environmental awareness, and many other things where the absence helps the rich get wealthier .
It’s also just a blatant theft; there is a lot of money to be made here however it goes down , and that money goes to connected arseholes
