That manual correction: installing Linux.
That manual correction: installing Linux.
How this is called that when “lemmygetnaked” would’ve been infinitely better I’ll never know…
We should not forget that these people scrunched up their faces at Twitter itself for years and said ”but what is it?” Only in the fullness of time did it permeate our entire society.
This is a very good point. I think the longevity and robustness of the ecosystem matters more than the active user count today. Eventually through pure erosion lemmy and other decentralized platforms could wind up winning in popularity as well if things get worse everywhere else and they’re stable enough to continue adding new users.
I wouldn’t fuck with VW after their “eco-diesel” bullshit from a decade or two ago. But I would probably still prefer them to Tesla if they were the only two car companies.
Social media is doing everything in the establishment’s favor
For about half a second, people used social media to organize. Then the fascists saw how to manipulate and control it, and jumped at the opportunity. At this point social media – especially billionaire controlled social media – is just part of the fascist apparatus.
To a lesser extent, as this article talks about, the coping mechanism of posting through better platforms allows you to vent enough to prevent you from having the discomfort necessary to actually do anything. It’s not nearly as harmful, but it’s not good either.
Is signal not good enough or something? I basically switched to signal.
They want you to forget what they did so they can do it again.
Notice how it’s “AI haters” and not “people trying to protect their IP” as it would be if it were say…China instead of AI companies stealing the IP.
It doesn’t take weeks to do a wire transfer. You had some one off weirdo situation and you’re pretending like it’s universally applicable. It took me longer to cash out 5k of doge a couple of years ago than it takes me to do “big money” transfers.
1-5 days isn’t “weeks”.
Another day another issue that completely doesn’t matter at all to distract from the fact that our politicians are incapable of actually fixing any of our problems.
Drew Carey.jpg Welcome to American capitalism, where the valuations are made up and the company financials don’t matter.
Wire transfers are how you handle actual big money transfers and it doesn’t take weeks.
Thank the fucking sky fairies actually, because even if AI continues to mostly suck it’d be nice if it didn’t swallow up every potable lake in the process. When this shit is efficient that makes it only mildly annoying instead of a complete shitstorm of failure.
It took weeks to move big money around.
Lol this is just either a statement out of ignorance or a complete lie. Wire transfers didn’t take weeks. Checks didn’t take weeks to clear, and most people aren’t moving “big money” via fucking cash app either.
“Big money” isn’t paying half for an Uber unless you’re like 16 years old.
No wonder the broligarchs love it so much.
I did this too recently. Highly recommend.
Just because people in power are getting worse, doesn’t mean we can’t strive to be better.
Yep, let’s rake our forests and rinse our recycling to handle climate change!
If your house burns to the ground, no worries, you can just collect floatsom from the beach and build a new one!
Dude, some things cannot be solved via positive vibes and being a good neighbor, and if you want my honest opinion on it, I think pushing everyday people to be accountable for everything while the broligarchs are accountable for nothing is a big part of the problem.
In other words, you should strive to be better than an apologist for the system.
Is that what the “you can’t download your shit anymore” is really reaching at?
