My point is that I literally will be putting in zero effort and buying on my normal days because that’s all I can afford to do. You’re asking people to make a choice and for some of us there is no real choice. When I buy groceries is determined by my payday WAY THE HELL MORE than any ideology.

I get your point, but a day is a rounding error. A day is “oh it snowed so no one went out”. That’s normal enough that I just don’t see how a single day will amount to much. People will either buy ahead of time or right after. They won’t forgo their purchases, just delay them at best.
I buy my groceries every two weeks when I get paid. I don’t get paid that week. I won’t be buying anything anyways. And even if I did participate, I’d just buy stuff the next day and it would balance out. I’m not sure how this actually does anything. In the grand scheme of averages, this seems like barely a blip tbh.
…so… content filters when? Let me limit it to certain subjects and I don’t need social media anymore 😂
I literally posted a comment back then saying “sure is odd that this is happening right before the US election. Not saying it means anything, but maybe it’s not a coincidence?” and got downvoted to hell lmao.
You miss my meaning. All the servers that your info passes through, all the cell towers, etc, can and in many cases do track you(even as just routine loggings). Thinking that running anything makes you more secure while connecting to a giant public network is naive.
You know the towers log data too, right? And that websites themselves can track you regardless of what OS you use, right?
Privacy is good, but stop with this “Linux is a magic weapon” BS.
Yeah, you can definitely tell the show was filtered through the lense of “what will the average person understand”. I just appreciated the focus on actually building something vs just seeing the business side of it.
It’s definitely satire, but I feel Silicon Valley did a decent job. Yes they absolutely made things up, but it was more about the backend and pushing updates and servers being erased because someone accidentally sat a drink on a keyboard.
I agree with this. The tie looks too business/professional. The bowtie has a certain charm. But it needs to be like “neon bus seat” design. You know the one I’m talking about. Or like water cups from the 90s.
Interesting how the save now feature was broken until right up until the US election. Makes it easier to edit news articles on the fly without leaving a trail. Could be a motive for who was behind it - but I’m just speculating.
Actual OP here: Christmas is “put on a performance” fake. It’s also many pagan holidays mashed together by the Christians and co-opted when arguably the date of their messiah’s birth was in another time of year. It’s also getting longer and longer so companies can sell more and more crap that just ends up as waste.
Is Festivus made up? Sure. But it’s genuine in it’s disdain for what Christmas has become and is a sincere protest. In the words of Frank Costanza: “As I was raining blows down on him, I realized there had to be a better way”
Do you miss the part where it’s an open rebuttal of the over commercialization of Christmas? Instead of wasting a bunch of time putting up decorations bought simply to fill some billionaires pockets, I’ll put up a steel pole.
Also you’re missing the Airing of Grievances as well. Thats integral. The family fight is gonna happen regardless, so might as well get some therapy out of it and bury the axes while you’re at it. The Feats of Strength will get rid of whatever animosity is left too.
Oh, I’m sorry, did you grow up in a normal, functional family?
Winter? Nah. Love it for many of the reasons already being stated.
But the fake as fuck holiday season that comes with it? Done with it. I’m celebrating Festivus unironically this year. Done with the rest of that shit.
I dunno, my 65 inch TV and 5.1 surround sound system, along with adjustable lighting, begs to differ. Just cus your system sucks doesn’t mean everyone’s does.
Also “more similar to physical media”. So here we have exhibit A: the guy who thinks license rentals are the same as ownership. I’m just gonna be honest, if you misunderstood that, I’m not expecting you to understand anything else in this discussion.
Way to miss the point. Name a place where a family of 4 can get 4 tickets to a current movie for $25. It’s not happening. They’re saying that for them, $25 is a fucking steal compared to the theatre experience just on price alone, BEFORE you even consider snacks and other people.
