  • Theoretically, if Canadians gave real-looking one star ratings on Google Maps for Tesla dealerships and chargers, then it would discourage buying Teslas. People who already own Teslas would choose public chargers from other brands - even Canadian ones.

Tesla owners aren’t going to avoid superchargers just because of bad reviews. Reviews don’t show up when navigating to chargers via the in-car navigation, which is what most drivers use.

And most of those with any sort of free supercharging options or offers on their account aren’t going to simply switch and start paying when they can get it for free instead, and those that would go out of their way to not use the integrated supercharger network and navigation despite those freebies, aren’t going to make that change just because of reviews, they’re going to do it for their own reasons, if they can accept the increased cost for that.

You can try it, but it’s going to be a waste of time and effort that should be put to better use elsewhere it can actually affect change.

  • This is why you never trust a single source. For anything. Reputable news organizations have never trusted single sources, they always use multiple sources to verify information they are told. Science is not immune from this, and never has been. And even for those that you’ve followed in the past, times change, especially in a capitalist society with a massive oligarchy that owns the news companies, like modern western civilizations. Trust, but verify.

  • Nvidia doesn’t give a shit about gamers anymore. The incremental improvements are a side effect. This is why they’re so focused on software enhancements instead like DLSS now. It gives them the marketing numbers without having to do the hardware improvements for gaming.

Their bread and butter now is AI, and large scale machine learning. Where businesses are buying thousands of cards at a time. It’s also why they’re so stingy with VRAM on their cards, large amounts on VRAM are not as necessary for most workloads outside gaming now, and it saves them millions of dollars every generation.

It’s almost like the inhumane, cramped, living conditions we permit a lot of our agriculture industry to have for animals is biting us in the ass.

And before dipshits come in about how that doesn’t apply to cage free chickens, etc. Of course that shit still affects overall product prices. One of the businesses along the line between the farm with the chickens and your grocery store aisle is going to raise the price anyway to gouge a little more profit from the system when they have the chance.

  • First rule, always have backups. Especially with an older drive, make sure anything you might need is duplicated somewhere else. Ideally off-site to prevent loss in case of things like burglary or a fire. Even something as simple as Google Drive or OneDrive.

Personally, I’d take a look at replacing it with an SSD if you can afford to, not only because of the age, but better performance. You may not notice slowness, but making the jump from a HDD to an SSD is still at least a little noticeable even on secondary drives from my experience.
