  • It is not as bad if you approach it with open mind. I’m the person who quicksaves twice before hitting “save and exit” so it definitely took effort but the saves are not that bad. It is definitely more tedious at start, later you have enough resources to use the Saviour Shnaps (the item that lets you save whenever) more. Game also saves when you sleep so you just need to go to sleep when able and it’s alright. I don’t remember gear breaking tbh but you probably do have to do some maintenance on i to keep using it.

As OP says, it is very slow burn and can be difficult at start because the combat can be a bit janky, due to it being very different to what you may be used to - uses direcional inputs in a similar way as For Honor does, but has more directions. So you have to get used to thay but also your character is literal peasant who knows shit (you even have to learn to read) so it takes time for both you and your character to get decent at stuff. But I found it worth it.

I’m a layman in terms if AI but I think it can be a useful tool, if used in proper context. I use it when I struggle to find something by regular internet search. The fact you can search in a conversational style and specify as you go on what you need is great.

I feel it is pushed into contexts where it has no place and where it’s usefulness is limited or counterproductive.

Then there is the question of the inproper use of copyrighted material which is terrible

  • Might have been a cash grab - in fact it likely was. But I tend to reserve my judgement. I’m not on the live service hate train - in fact I’m often interested in what they might have on offer. I like to have a main game, and live service games are great for people like me as there is always something to look forward to. And I for one fucking hate the constant cach grab fails.

People always hate on live service games just because of the label, but there is serious lack of good live service games compared to good single player games.

My comment migh’ve come partyl from a place of frustration so apologies if I was harsh or something

  • Point was Warcraft was primarily single player RTS. Yes, with multiplayer mode but MMORPG is pretty big genre shift. In the end, it’s just about using the IP, nothing more.

You gave examples of games that tried something like this that failed, I just pointed out an example where it was quite successful.

We will never know if the Horizon MMO would be good or bad. I think the IP would fit MMO genre quite well tbh.

The real issue with live service game failiures is that studios design cash grabs, not games they would want to play.
