No. It’s one of the many, many problems, even if it wasn’t shovelling money into rich wide dude’s mouths and trained on stolen data, it would still use absurd amounts of energy, could be used for propaganda / further eradicate what is true, make creative people loose their jobs, make normal people rely on machines that sell hallucinations for facts etc. etc. This shit is mostly terrible.

It’s been rock solid for me, Bazite comes with Nvidia drivers (it has different images for old and new cards), so no fiddling with installing drivers in top of the system (like e. g. in Kinoite) that break during major version updates (e. g. Fedora 40 t0 40). I think I’ve installed it in four different systems (all Nvidia GPUs and either Intel or Amd CPUs) and it worked flawlessly every time.

https://cartes.app/ is a new kid on the block to replaces Gmaps, looks very cool bit is also very alpha atm. But I’ll keep checking it, it has some very cool features already (French only atm which I don’t speak at all but it’s still super usable.)

I’m pretty sure Osmand centers the map in North Is Up mode but I’m not 100% certain.

Interesting, I’ve had the exact opposite problem with Osmand last summer: Could not get it to use POV mode (not smart enough to navigate otherwise when cycling), it was always stuck on North Is Up (there’s a button to change that on the upper left corner which they now changed to click and hold so I have my hopes up that it’ll work now).
