I don’t see it that way but Steam has never enshittified in way that was noticeable to me and the features they offer along with the games are valuable. They are also a big driver of Linux development for games. That earns them a lot of points. If they flip or something better comes along I have no loyalty to them.

Doom scrolling. The thing is though when I take time off work I don’t touch the internet at all for days on end. I work on my hobbies instead. It’s when I only have a day or two of free time (even less when you account for having to do chores) and not enough time to finish whatever I’m working on along with whatever I have to come back to next Monday weighing on my mind that I just turn to my phone instead. That’s only working 40 hours a week too. There are people in far worse situations than me.

As someone who can’t code (not a developer) but occasionally needs to dip my toes in it. I’ve learned quite a bit from using chatgpt and then picking apart whatever it shat out to figure out why it’s not working. It’s still better than me starting from scratch on whatever it is I’m working on because usually I don’t even know where to begin.

I had a similar experience a few years ago. I haven’t even tried dating again because trying to rework my life to incorporate another person at this point just sounds like a giant pain in the ass and I’m old enough now that it seems like everyone I meet around my age who’s still single is living a train wreck of a life so it wouldn’t be worth the effort anyway.
And when it does change it’s to enshittify it. It’s been a decade since I was excited about any new technology. I used to love it too.

Thanks. And yeah don’t really give a shit about graphics when I’m dealing with constant usability problems. I guess if all you care about is playing video games that would be more of a concern but my eyes are too shitty to appreciate high end graphics anyway.

I don’t even know what that is. I use Windows 11 at work every day and it fucking sucks. It has been non stop annoyances since I got upgraded from 10. I don’t have any problems on my windows 10 pc at home.
Yeah well Windows 11 fucking sucks. What do they expect? Maybe if you have to do all kinds of shady shit to get people to accept the newest version of your shitty product you should take a good look at yourself and evaluate why that is.

Because I’ve seen what people do with their vehicles. I bought my car new 13 years ago and I’ve been able to make sure it’s been properly maintained the entire time and no one else’s crud is all over the interior. I intend to keep it until it falls apart. Prior to that I had a truck I bought used and got maybe 5 years out of it before the transmission died with only medium mileage. I had maintained it but who knows what the person before me did with it.
That said if nothing changes with all this touchscreen infotainment shit I don’t know what I’ll do. I’ve hated every new vehicle I’ve been in the last few years.
I remember the floppy disks that were actually floppy. I don’t think I ever saved to one though.

People kept finding exploits to fuck the economy so they kept turning off trading which made it difficult to progress. I think my issue was lack of storage and you needed money to get more if I remember right. I got bogged down with inventory management and never touched it again.
