Hi!
For Lemmy usage my preferred approach is always sorting by all and blocking communities (and instances) I don’t want to see instead of subscribing to the ones I do want to see. This way you get more content and dont miss new sublemmies! :)

About a million active users each month
Edit: Damn, 10 million users, 1 million active daily, see other comment. My source was this, the one from the other comment is certainly more trustworthy https://adamconnell.me/social-media-platforms/#%3A~%3Atext=larger+social+network.-%2CStats%3A%2Cat+the+end+of+2022
👍 best tip I got in my early days on Lemmy was to not hesitate with blocking instances
I’m not sure where you’re from but generally it’ll probably become better. Pretty much every first world country has free or at least very easily affordable universities, and given how many countries are currently rising, about to become part of the “first world” in the next decades if you want to put it like that (assuming the upwards trend continues), free unis is something that I expect to also become much more widely available.
2 GB RAM rasp pi 4 :))
I thought so too. Used a MacBook Pro for half a year. Never again.
As soon as you want to do more than opening preinstalled apps / installing apps from their store, it gets overly complicated. Customisability also is extremely limited.
I wouldn’t even want to be in an Austrian luxury prison. There’s a reason why people have went as far as dying while fighting for their freedom, it’s one of our most precious possessions.
We have clean water in Austria, directly from the mountains without adding anything (just cleaning it with UV light to kill potential bacteria in most regions, nothing else. Not even that in some regions).
Some of the best and cleanest water worldwide, so whenever I go to another country I’m disappointed by their water quality.
Clean and well-tasting tap water. It sucks when I’m going to another country and they have chlorinated tap water

At my uni I recently met two people in their mid 40s to 50 (eyeballing) who started mechanical engineering this year. It’s never too late.
And a friend who’s studying medicine said a group of people in their 50s started a year ago
Outside of the USA noone knows what idk, 50°F feels like. Probably around room temperature since you say it’s based on how humans feel but I have no idea.
Still a breakthrough for them, so still nice to hear. Yes its Microsoft, but its still nice to see progress in research.
